The “O” set. Aka, the slot-t’s I formation.

Hey y’all, I realize that I have yet to update this in over two years! Since then I’ve created a YouTube channel, which I’ve made a couple slot t videos, but not in about a year, I want to keep talking slot t. But as I sat down to make another video on the “O” set out of the slot t I realized how camera shy and terrified of talking to a camera haha. So, I’ve decided to write it all down and talk through text.

Anyhow, I’ve spoken to many coaches interested in the slot t, but wanted more of a downhill run game. (I know I know, the slot t is definitely a downhill run offense) anyhow, many people asked about that dang “I” formation that some slot t teams run. Which, ironic enough, they call the “O” set.

Just thought I’d get that out of the way before I dive into some of the “O” set stuff and maybe make this a blog series thing. Now, onto the “O” set.

The “O” set is the I formation in the slot t offense, it moves the HB from his normal backfield position to behind the FB in an I alignment, everyone else in the offense place stays the same.

Subtle change huh? But, you can run some cool things out of it.

First of all, I’d align the Hb 6-7 yards from the nose of the ball, as stated on the paper. 2 or 4 pt. Stance is acceptable, except I love the 4 pt. So that’s what I’d prefer.

Running the 200 or “power” series out of this is not ideal, as you lose your HB as a lead blocker on 234/36 and 228. But you can can still run 243TT like in A set.

The 300 series is legit out of this set. But the FB traps is the reason why, having a deep back I feel like the defense loses the FB while keying the HB more than in A set. Would not reccomend running 349 (the bucksweep) our if this. But there is a play, 345 that hits more inside, but with less pulling. It’s really a split flow play with the FB going one way, and the HB going another.

The 400 series or “G” series is also a must have in this set. With the HB being the ball carrier, plays 447 and the PA off of it, Pass 419 are great great plays.

Also, the toss series to the HB is good such as plays 648 and 649 respectively.

The 8HR (8 hole reverse is a must have in this set as is 422 which is the TB inside trap)

I can get into greater detail with these in future blog posts if y’alld like.

As always, I appreciate all y’all coaches that reach out. And as always, y’all can holler at me anytime and I’ll try to help anyway I can.

400 Series! My favorite. 434 G lead.

Hey y'all, sorry about the delay of content, ive been busy coaching soccer (dont judge me) haa. Anyways, i hope yall had a great and safe new years!

Today we're going to start talking about the 400 series, the "G" series. My personal favorite.

My last count this series has 5-6 base plays 422, 422 keep/down option, 418 G keep, 434 G lead, and pass 418. But the possibilities are endless.

Anyways, lets start with 434 G lead, the FB belly.

Rules:

Strongend- release inside, MDLB.

Strongtackle- on/inside, if man over guard, you take him.

Strongguard- pull, kick out EMLOS.

Center- onside/backside.

Quickguard- secure playside A, then release to second level.

Quicktackle- go second level, throw on safety.

Swingman- release, go get far safety.

Tailback- tom motion fake 228. If no motion, throw on safety.

Halfback- lead C gap, take LB.

Fullback- open step, take ball, follow SG.

Quarterback- reverse out, hand ball to FB deep, carry out 418 fake.

Guys, hope this post helps yall out, i dont have a hard copy of these blocking rules so im going off of memory, if yall have any questions i check my email kinda daily, and im always on the Twitter. Hope yall enjoy it!

318 keep.

Hey y'all, sorry for the delay, the holiday season has a grip on my free time. Anywho, no excuses, lets talk about a QB run play off of 349 action. Im iffy on this play as i think the LBs would have to be keying the backfield pretty hard.

Anyways. Here's 318 keep.

Blocking rules:

Strongend- first inside.

Strongtackle- first inside.

Strongguard- first inside.

Center- backside.

Quickguard- pull and seal on PSLB.

Quicktackle- scoop across face of second down lineman, then go throw downfield.

Tailback- step inside, like 349, go downfield and cut the FS. IMPORTANT BLOCK.

Swingman- show a post, then throw downfield. (Ive seen it ran where the SM just goes and cuts the FD.. I prefer that way myself).

Fullback- kickout first person past the strongends block. Same angle as 234 with a 5 call. ( i covered that about a year ago, it's in the 200 series section).

Halfback- make a great 349 fake.

Quarterback- take a deep drop step, keep shoulders square, make a great fake while staying patient, follow QG to the endzone.

Thats all i got for now, next ill be covering the 400 series, or the "G" series. Unless yall want me to talk about something else.

Yall have a wonderful holiday season and be safe!

319 Keep.

The next play we're gonna discuss is 319 Keep, great if you have an athletic QB or if the defense is flowing hard on 3-2-8.

Rules time.

Strongtackle- get across the face of the second DLM.

Strongguard- pull and seal on PSLB.

Center- onside/backside.

Quickguard- first inside.

Quicktackle- first inside.

Tailback- make a great 3-2-8 fake, hold the secondary.

Swingman- can cut down split, first man past the face of the QT, hard inside. *crucial block*

Fullback- kickout #4 playside, inside out, first man past SM's butt.

Halfback- sell pass, make the corner cover you, if he don't, let me know.

Quarterback- make a great 3-2-8 fake, be patient, keep shoulders square, follow the guard.

Hope this info is helpful to all or some of yall. If yall have any questions you can send me an email flapattack92@gmail.com

Swingman- DMMS.

Tailback- fake 3-2-8.

3-2-8.

The next play that i will be discussing is the sweep to the Tailback. 3-2-8, pronounced as three, two, eight. The reason it is pronounced like that is because it can sometimes be confused with 228 and then you're in trouble haha.
Without further ado, 3-2-8.
Base blocking rules:
Quicktackle- DMFS (deep man far side)
Quickguard- pull strong, log inside.
Center- playside/backside.
Strongguard- pull strong, kickout #4
Strongtackle- base/replace. (5 tech- make a 59 call and go first inside to LB)
Strongend- double team DE with HB. (59 call- block down on 5 tech)
Swingman- FS.
Tailback- 300 tom motion- follow QG.
Fullback- fake 332- chop first man off QGs tail.
Halfback- outside shoulder of #3 (DE)
Quarterback- give TB, carry out 319 run fake.
*ST- no 59 call if there is already a goaline call. (Double 1's)
Ive attached the play vs. A 50 with a 59 call. I didn't go into much depth about footwork. But i figured its almost been a year so i may go ahead and write a post haha.
Hope this helped coaches!
Holler if you need anything.
